Fees charged will always be less than the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee for Psychologists (currently $311 per 45-60 minute sessions).

My fee is currently set at $280 per 50 minute session.  Medicare rebates are available with a referral from a GP (currently $141.85 per session), for up to 10 sessions annually. 

Concession fees for ongoing therapeutic work beyond the rebated sessions are charged by a sliding scale that is based on a case by case assessment, in a collaborative conversation as part of therapy.

What should you expect when visiting a GP for a referral? 

You can book an appointment with any GP. At the meeting, you should request a referral to go see Tamar (Tammy) Ben-Shaul. The doctor may ask you some questions designed to assess whether you are suffering from depressive symptoms or feeling anxious. They may ask to fill a 10 item questionnaire designed to give indication of your well-being (K-10).

Currently, a client with a Mental Health Care Plan is eligible for Medicare rebates up to 10 sessions annually. Please consult with Medicare, your GP or with me on your first encounter to understand this process.
